Welcome to Thriving Differently 101

First up, a big warm welcome to our new blog series. It’s like your favourite university course, minus the exams and the student loans. This course is all about our journey with chronic illness and neurodiversity and, spoiler alert, how to make the most of this wild ride we call life.

A Perfect Storm: Chronic Illness Meets Neurodiversity

Now, you might be wondering, what’s the deal with this whole “chronic illness and neurodiversity” thing? Well, imagine a peanut butter and jam sandwich (or peanut butter and jelly if you’re in the US!) Each ingredient is a separate deal, but put them together, and you’ve got a seriously tasty combo. Chronic illness and neurodiversity are similar; they often come as a package deal, creating a unique experience that’s sometimes tough, sometimes empowering, and always a journey.

Understanding The Intersection

Chronic illnesses, like our good friends fibromyalgia and autoimmune arthritis, can throw some pretty gnarly curveballs. Likewise, neurodiversity, with our pals ADHD and autism, brings its own set of twists and turns. When you combine these two, you get a road trip that’s got more bends than a pretzel. But hey, who doesn’t love a good pretzel?

Real Life in the Intersection of thriving differently 101

Now, let’s talk about real life. Like when your fibro flare has you feeling like you’ve been hit by a truck, just as your ADHD decides it’s time to do ALL the things. Or when you’re trying to make sense of a social situation with your autism traits, but your arthritis pain makes it feel like you’re doing advanced calculus while running a marathon. Not exactly a walk in the park, eh?

The Silver Lining

“But Marty”, I hear you say, “this all sounds a bit doom and gloom”. Ah, my friend, that’s where you’re wrong. This is all about “Thriving Differently”, remember? Sure, there are challenges. But with challenges come opportunities for growth, creativity, and resilience. Like a cactus, we might be a bit prickly and live in tough conditions, but we sure as heck know how to survive and bloom!

What’s Next?

So, what can you expect from this blog series? Well, there’ll be laughter, maybe a few tears, lots of insights, and even more puns. We’ll explore the ins and outs of chronic illness and neurodiversity, share stories, tips, and resources. Plus, we’ll dive into how thriving differently can open up new opportunities, like earning money online. Sounds good? Great, because I can’t wait to share this journey with all of you!

So, buckle up, everyone. This ride is just getting started, and I’m so glad you’re here with me. Let’s embrace our unique journey and thrive differently together!

Until next time,

Marty
